Frequently Asked Questions About Onduvilla
How long does it resist to climatic conditions? Does it require maintenance?
In case that the details in our technical catalogues are closely followed and if it is used together with the accessories manufactured by our company , Onduvilla does not require any maintenance for many years.
Does it crack and corrupt in hot and cold weathers?
Onduvilla sheets may be applied both in the most cold and most hot and humid climates easily. No problems have been encountered in applications made in areas where the temperature was +50°C under shadow and in regions where the cold was almost -50°C.
Our factories and big markets in Brazil, Malaysia and Russia are indicators that Onduvilla is applied widely both in very hot and cold climates.
Does its color change?
Onduvilla is affected slightly by UV.
However, due to the colouring process, this change is not felt and it preserves its color for many years.
Can we walk on it?
On Onduvilla applied roofs, one can walk by stepping on the straight parts on Onduvilla.
Does it penetrate heat or cold? In other words, does it provide heat insulation?
Onduvilla is not a heat insulation material.
Heat insulation is related with the materials heat conductivity coefficient and thickness. Due to the fact that Onduvilla heat conductivity coefficient is low it cannot provide heat insulation because its thickness is low.
In case that heat insulation is required, underneath Onduvilla, a thermic insulation material with required thickness and at least 18 kg/m3 density should be placed and applied afterwards.
In case that the thermic insulation is placed between the beams, the heat insulation material can be at any density.
How long is its guarantee?
Our company gives written waterproofness guarantee for Onduvilla sheets for a period of 10 years in case that the application is approved by our technical staff members and accessories of Onduvilla are used.
Different accessory usage makes the guarantee invalid.
ONDULINE gives guarantee only for the product. The responsibility with regards to application belongs to the company which performs the application.
Is it flammable?
Every product is flammable if the necessary conditions occur. Thus, all products are classified according to their flammable characteristics.
Onduvilla is an E class product.
Due to the fact that almost all fire cases start inside the building and in the roof space, and bearing in mind that roof constructions are generally made of wood, the flammable characteristic of the roofing material is not of high importance.
Does it break?
Onduvilla is a flexible material. It can be bent 90° along its conduits. It can be used perpendicularly to its conduits on vaulted roofs with a radius of 5.00 m.
Does it corrupt?
It definitely does not corrupt and is not affected of any chemical material by which bitumen is not affected as well.
Is water insulation required underneath?
Onduvilla is a roofing material and there is no need to place any water insulation material under it.
Why are they small sized?
Onduvilla has been developed as an alternative material to shingle. It can be carried and applied easily thanks to its small size.
What is its weight?
Each sheet of Onduvilla weighs 1,27 kg. By taking into consideration overlaps, it applies a weight of 4 kg on each 1 m2 on the roof.
Do the nail holes penetrate water?
Due to the fact that Onduvilla is fixed by specially developed Plastic Head Mono Block Nails by hammering them at the top of the corrugations , excellent water insulation is obtained.
The Mono Block Nail heads are not affected by the climatic conditions and UV rays. Original mono block nails should always be preferred during application.
