Ondura joins Kingspan

The joining of Ondura and Kingspan, announced on 18 February 2022, has been approved by the regulatory authorities. This is a critical step in the formation of Kingspan’s new Roofing and Waterproofing Division.

Ondura, which was created around the French company Onduline, is a specialist in roofing solutions for pitched roofs. Owner of alwitra, a specialist in high-quality waterproofing systems for flat roofs and the Polish company CB, a European leader of protective underlays for façade and roofs, Ondura possesses great expertise in the water- and airtightness of buildings and is expanding its global presence. Led by Patrick Destang, Ondura operates in over 100 countries and employs 1,600 people.

Ondura is embarking on a new stage of development in joining the Kingspan Group, a global leader in high-performance solutions for insulation and building envelopes. The acquisition, which was announced in February 2022, has now received the approval of the regulatory authorities.

As an outcome of this acquisition, Kingspan, which has a presence in over 70 countries and has over 200  production sites across the world, will operate in six key sectors:

  • Insulated Panels - Insulated sandwich panels, Kingspan’s main and original division,
  • Insulation - insulated panels, piping and sheath insulation,
  • Light + Air - Natural lighting and ventilation systems, smoke extraction,
  • Water & Energy - Innovative rainwater collection and flood control systems, fuel storage, hot water, smart building management,
  • Data & Flooring Technology Raised flooring systems.
  • Roofing & Waterproofing - Roofing solutions using Ondura’s expertise.

Given that the building sector is undergoing a period of energy and ecological transition, this new step is particularly promising for the development of Ondura, which will benefit from all the support of a leading Group.

Patrick Destang, Ondura’s CEO announced, “The integration into Kingspan is excellent news for all of the Group’s employees. Kingspan is a truly international Group, resolutely focused, with its Planet Passionate programme, on its ambition of reducing energy consumption and achieving sustainable development in line with the IPCC 1.5 degree scenario. Global warming and economic uncertainties demonstrate the importance of exploiting the benefits of high-performance thermal insulation and low-energy systems. Ondura, which has a unique position in this sector, will benefit from all Kingspan’s experience and expertise in the area to offer solutions that are respectful of the planet and its resources.

I would like to thank Eric Aveillan and the team at Naxicap who have been essential partners in the development of Ondura and have supported us in our internal and external growth, allowing the Group to double the turnover between 2018 and 2021, including the acquisitions of alwitra and CB.”

Donal Curtin, Director General of Kingspan’s Roofing & Waterproofing division, said, “Ondura’s management team, people and leading brands are a true asset to Kingspan, complementing our existing capabilities, products and solutions. As we continue to expand into the roofing and waterproofing categories, we look forward to growing together and sharing expertise. We’re very excited to welcome the broader Ondura team to the Kingspan family and look forward to supporting the continued success of the business.”
